Formula = (Length x Width ) / (Fabric Width x Fabric Unit)
Every Parts Follow the same formula to maintain the fabric consumption. We will discuss the consumptions of different items of a shirt.
- Collar :
Length = 16” + 3.25” + 1” Sewing Allowance = 20.25”
Width = 1.75”+1”+1” Sewing Allowance = 3.75”
So, Consumption = { (20.25 x 3.75”) / (44” x 36”) } x 2 = .10 yds
- Collar Band :
Length : 18”+1”(Sewing Allowance) = 19”
Width : 1.5”+1”(Sewing Allowance) = 2.5”
Consumption = {(19”x 2.5”) / (44” x 36”)} x 2 = 0.05” = 0.06 yds
- Yoke :
Length : 24”+1” sewing Allowance = 25”
Width : 4”+1”(Round)+1”(Sewing Allowance) = 6”
Consumption = {(25” x 6”) / (44” x 36”) x 2 } = .189393 = 0.19 yard
- Back Part :
Length = (Center Back Length – Shoulder Width ) + 1 Sewing Allowance
So Length = (34.5”- 4”) + 1” = 31.5”
Width = 24” + 1” Sewing Allowance = 25”
Consumption = {(31.5” x 25”) / (44” x 36”) } = 0.497159= 0.50 Yard
- Front Part :
Center Front Length = 32” + 1” Sewing Allowance = 33”
Width (Chest) = 24”+ 1” Sewing Allowance = 25”
Consumption = {(33” x 28”) / (44” x 36”) } = 0.58333333 = 0.59 YD
- Sleeve :
Sleeve Length = 23” + 1 “ Sewing Allowance = 24”
Sleeve Width = (23” + 11.5) / 2 = 17.25 + 1” Sewing Allowance = 18.25”
Consumption = {(24” x 18.25”) / (44” x 36”) x 2} = 0.553 Yard
- Cuff :
Cuff Length = 10.5” + 1” = 11.5”
Cuff Width = 2.5” +1” =3.5”
Consumption = {(11.5” x 3.5” x 4 ) / (44” x 36”) } = 0.10 Yard
- Pocket :
Pocket Length = 6.5” +1” Sewing Allowance + 1”Pleat = 8.5”
Pocket Width = 5.5” +1” Sewing Allowance = 6.5”
Consumption = {(8.5 x 6.5) / (44 x 36)} = 0.035 Yard
So, Total Fabrics :
- Collar = 0.10 Yard
- Collar Band = 0.06 yard
- Back Yoke = 0.19 Yard
- Back Part = 0.50 Yard
- Front Part = 0.59 Yard
- Sleeve = 0.553 Yard
- Cuff = 0.10 Yard
- Pocket = 0.035 Yard
- Total = 2.128 Yard
So Total Fabrics = 2.128 + 5% (wastage) = 2.128 + 0.1064 = 2.2344 = 2.23 Yard
